Our Mission.
Why do Our Churches Associate?
The Heart of Kansas Southern Baptist Association (HOKSBA) is made up of over 50 churches in the greater Wichita area. This association of churches is drawn together by a vision for greater gospel impact in this region of Kansas. They are also drawn together by the belief that New Testament churches do this most effectively when they work together. Association is a biblical concept.

What is Our Mission?
HOKSBA exists to influence and assist participating churches to fulfill the Great Commission as they cooperate in the creation and development of healthy churches. We pursue this mission in four primary ways:
HOKSBA exists to influence and assist participating churches to fulfill the Great Commission as they cooperate in the creation and development of healthy churches. We pursue this mission in four primary ways:
- Church Planting
- We believe that churches plant churches.
- We partner with local churches, along with state and national partners, to collaborate in planting new churches.
- Leader Health
- We believe that healthy leaders are essential for healthy churches.
- We cultivate leader health through cohorts that emphasize relationship and learning. We conduct preaching workshops and other targeted leader development activities to strengthen leaders in character and competency.
- We seek to encompass the health of the leader's family through marriage retreats and pastor/staff wives fellowship.
- Church Health
- We believe that healthy churches make disciples in obedience to the Great Commission.
- We pursue church health through relationships and resources intended to renew and revitalize local churches. These resources include church assessment and consultation for replant or revitalization, Funnel Fusion (a process designed to help churches clarify and implement a disciple-making vision), and other church health tools.
- Ministry Collaboration
- We believe churches should collaborate for the advancement of God's kingdom.
- We foster ministry collaboration by helping leaders and churches to connect with each other to strengthen relationships and assist one another in kingdom work. This collaboration has many forms from partnering for VBS to mission trips or doing Disaster Relief Ministry together.
