The 2009 Association Team of summer interns
For the last several years, the Heart of Kansas has used summer interns to help existing churches, and church plants serve their communities and share the Gospel. In 2010, we are looking for students to continue this strategy. We are recruiting students for four teams.
The Heart of Kansas Southern Baptist Association serves over 50 churches in Wichita, Kansas and the surrounding area. Students who serve on this team will help existing churches with VBS and back yard Bible clubs, promotion, and follow-up activities. They will also serve on staff at Kids Kamp. Interns will also spend time at our Good Neighbor Centers, serving those who come in for the services they offer. This team will also staff block parties, and help other church plants with their out reach events.
Journey the Way is a new church in Wichita, Kansas. Our Vision is to Love God, Love People and Turn the world up side down. We are seeking summer interns to help us engage our community on a variety of levels. We desire to penetrate the culture and use the Gospel to transform lives.
True Life Church is a new church starting in the northeast part of Wichita, KS. Student missionaries will be used to promote and staff block parties and other evangelistic outreaches. Missionaries will be used to help with Sunday service equipment set up.
Missionaries will be challenged to find creative ways to reach out to the surrounding community and promote True Life Church. They will also be encouraged to share their faith with those they come in contact with.
The Heart of Kansas hosts dozens of mission teams each summer that come to help our churches, church plants, and ministries as they work to serve their communities. The intern filling this position will help greet and orient mission teams, take pictures and videos to record their work, and help with block parties and other ministry evangelism projects as time allows.
We call this an internship because we hope to help those who come grow as they serve. As you work alongside missionaries, church planters, and pastors you will have the opportunity to hear about their heart for their people, and why they do things the way they do. Throughout the summer, you will have an opportunity to connect with the other summer intern teams to discuss what you’ve seen God doing. We will also explore personal issues like calling, personal disciplines and God’s work in your life this far.
All summer interns that are appointed through the North American Mission Board (NAMB) will have their expenses to and from Wichita covered, as well as be paid a stipend for each week of service. High school students will receive $50 per week, and college students will receive $75. Transportation on the field, housing and food will be provided for all interns during the program.
