Sunday School Training

Friday, July 22, 2005

Your Sunday School Planning Team has listened to the responses to our telephone survey and planned sessions to meet your expressed needs. There will be things to help those who are new to teaching and leading. Other conferences will be to help all of us sharpen our skills. The conferences aren't tied to a particular literature. There are things for each division: Preschool, Children, Youth, Adult, and General Officers. One group of conferences is more for evangelism. Our Pastors will have a special two-day conference led by Peck Lindsay, our Executive Director for Kansas/Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists.

We have asked pastors to share things they would like Peck to include. We have wanted this conference to help you as you seek to reach those for whom God has given you a responsibility. Scripture encourages us to learn and mature so we can do our task in a manner that will please our Lord. Training is planned to help each person in the association be equipped to do the task God had called them to do in their church. I look forward to seeing you September 19 and 20 for a great time of growing. If you have questions or want me to stop by before September, call me at 683-3042.

Vacation Bible School 2005

I enjoy visiting with you during your week of Vacation Bible School. It has been good to see churches having VBS for the first time in several years because other churches helped. A special thanks to Cedar Pointe for helping Sedgwick have VBS. The groups coming from Arkansas have helped with prayer walking the week before a VBS, helped the week of VBS, and gone with church people to help with follow-up the week following VBS. I look forward to knowing how many new families have been discovered during the summer. It is great that the churches have been going back the very next week for follow-up. The sooner we go, the greater the possibility we can enlist unchurched people to come to church and become involved.
