Sunday School Training

Sunday, July 1, 2007

The Sunday School Committee is planning a special training for August 20, 2007. The staff of Quail Springs Southern Baptist Church will be leading the conferences. Roy Moody who served our state convention in the area of evangelism for a number of years is serving on that staff this year. Quail Springs has a strong missions focus throughout their church organizations for all ages. You will find a listing of the conferences in an insert. This is an excellent opportunity for each of our churches to have a fresh beginning for the new year. Mark the date on your calendar and plan to be a part of this special time. The training will be from 6:25 - 9:00 pm at Metropolitan Baptist Church.

Vacation Bible School

We are well into the summer and it is exciting to see the children and their leaders having a great time with Vacation Bible School. Seeing the decorations as well as some of the materials shared with sister churches is great. Vacation Bible School is a wonderful opportunity to teach lasting Truth to our children who are in Sunday School on a regular basis.

It is also a great opportunity to reach families who are not involved in church. I'm looking forward to visiting more of your churches during your week of VBS through the rest of the summer. We have a great opportunity to reach out to many families during the summer.

I trust that you are following up on prospects the very next week after VBS. It is a great time to help parents know their children will have fun learning experiences every week in Sunday School. Being in a home right after VBS will make the parents aware that you are really interested in their family. By visiting right after VBS, you can begin to build a relationship with the parents. You can talk with them about Sunday School and then other activities your church has planned for the summer. Parents are looking for quality activities for their children. Knowing there are quality things for their children can help the parents to desire to become involved with those of their own age group. A VBS teacher might team with someone from the Sunday School age group of the parents. That way the person could offer to meet them at the door on Sunday, help them locate the children's rooms and then take them to their adult class.
