Sunday School is the place to bring people to be involved in a small group Bible study. Those who do not know the Lord will spend time in the scripture and have fellowship and be ministered to as they participate in the class. One of every two introduced to Jesus will come to know Him as Savior and Lord in a year's time.
Children who are involved in Sunday School will be learning about the Lord. Those who teach the children have a wonderful opportunity to share Christ and the significant responsibility to listen carefully as children ask questions. We need to give children right answers. We also need to ask them open-ended questions when they begin to ask about salvation. Children who have been in Sunday School for several years will express that they love Jesus. Asking questions that can be answered by yes or no doesn't require them to talk about what they are thinking. Children want to please parents and teachers. They will know what to answer with a yes or no question. Asking questions they must think about and form their own answer to helps us better understand where they are in their process of thinking about knowing Jesus personally. We need to affirm their questions but only answer what they ask. As the Holy Spirit leads, they will come again with more questions. Just as with adults, the Holy Spirit needs to convict the child of his lostness. Children often make statements beyond what they understand. Our questions can help them to express what they understand. Children are precious to the Lord. He will draw them. We can pray for them and answer their questions as they respond to Him.
