Sunday School Planning
Sunday School: Jean Edwards
Friday, August 26, 2005
September is a good time to look at the Sunday School year. It is good to look at the months ahead to think about outreach, high attendance days, and ways to include new people so they become a part of the family.
I hope your planning will include times for training to help those who have the responsibility for teaching each age to be the best in every way. The association Sunday School team has planned a time of training on September 19 and 20 at Metropolitan Baptist Church. There will be training for every division: Preschool, Children, Youth, Adult and General Officers. Pastors will have a special two-night conference with our KNCSB Executive Director, Peck Lindsey. We have listened to each of the churches share their needs and desires for training and have developed conferences to meet them.
I will look forward to seeing you from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. each evening.
Vacation Bible School 2005
What a joy to visit the different Vacation Bible Schools this summer! Each church was busy learning the Bible and having great fun. It was such a delight to see several churches having Vacation Bible School for the first time in several years. I am grateful to Cedar Pointe for helping Sedgwick and to different people from River Community and New Life who helped with the Backyard Bible Clubs for the new church start in Goddard. We had a number of groups that came from Arkansas to do prayer walking the week before, teach VBS, and to be involved in the follow up the week following VBS for several of our churches. I will look forward to knowing how many prospects were discovered and how many have become new Sunday School members.
I hope you are planning some event this fall such as a Family Fall Festival that could again reach out to those who are new in your church or who perhaps would respond to such an event as they did to Vacation Bible School. We need to remember that parents are looking for places where their children are well received and can have good experiences. Let's build on the foundation we laid in VBS.
