Sunday School: More Than Bible Study

Monday, May 1, 2006

Our Sunday Schools are Bible study times open to everyone to join us. They are also the place where we need to be reaching out to others. We need to be looking for people who work with us and where we shop. As we talk with them we should be building bridges of friendship so we can learn where they worship. Did you have people in church on Easter that aren't in a Sunday School class? Visit their home to get to know them, learn about ministry needs, and invite them to join you in Sunday School. If they live near you, ask to pick them up on Sunday. Those too far away could meet you in the parking lot or at a door so they have someone coming in with them.

Classes that have large numbers in regular attendance have the opportunity to begin a new class. A new teacher could be found for the present class. The teacher of the present class could take four to six people from the present class to begin a new class. Our goal should be to continue to grow with new people being added.

Arctic Edge: Where Adventure Meets Courage

I am looking forward to visiting your VBS this summer. Please let me know when your church will have VBS. It is always a joy to see the excitement and fun the children are having. Our churches are always good to share decorations. That is helpful and I enjoy seeing where they have traveled.

We have two churches that are still in need of help to have VBS this summer. Some of the churches that came last year are going to help churches damaged by hurricane Katrina this year. Some of your adults may want a Mission Experience by just driving across town. Call me at 683-3042 if you have people who would like to help.
