Sunday School is Ministry

Tuesday, January 25, 2005

Our Sunday Schools had a good opportunity to help people during the recent ice storm. Were you aware of the two young men offering people free help clearing limbs? They didn't identify their church group, but just said they were doing it to serve Jesus Christ. Some people opened their homes to others for a meal. Follow-up of regular Sunday School members during the week is the way to learn about needs or illness. Care Leaders in each adult class share the responsibility of a few members and pass the needs on to the class. Being well organized makes an immediate response possible. Transformational teaching helps us to learn from the scripture and have our actions become more Christ-like. It moves the knowledge we learn from our head into our hearts.

Ramblin'Road Trip: Which Way to Go?

Our Vacation Bible School trip will take us from Washington, DC to Knotts Berry Farm in California following Route 254. Wednesday will be a stop in Lebanon, KS to learn about salvation. The Bible teaching each day is about Jesus. Our focus will be on worship, thankfulness, salvation, belief and obedience. Route 254 refers to Psalm 25:4,"Make Your ways known to me, Lord; teach me Your Paths"(HCSB).

This is the tme to be praying and planning for your VBS. Several training opportunities will be offered. Kansas-Nebraska State Training will again be available to churches as well as Association Leaders. It will be March 12 at First Baptist Church, Salina, KS. The VBS Jumpstart will be from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Our Association Early Bird Training for Directors will be March 17. Pastors' training will be at a March Pastors' Conference. Directors' and Age Graded conferences will be April 7 and 21 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Four of our churches have requested VBS help through our Arkansas Partnership. If you need help to have Vacation Bible School, call me at 683-3042. We want everyone to have VBS this year! We find more prospects through VBS than any other ministry.
