Sunday School In Ministry
Sunday School: Jean Edwards
Friday, September 1, 2006
This is a good time to be looking at direction for our Sunday Schools and the individual classes for the New Year. I hope you will all be praying about attending the Flight School in September. It is always good to look at where we are and where the Lord would like us to be.
One of the significant ministries we can look at can involve people in our Sunday School or in our neighborhood. Single families need connections with couples and/or families. Children in single families need to experience the Lord's love through healthy, Christian adults in the church. Most of our single families are lead by a woman. Her children need to see and experience healthy relationships as they is growing and maturing. There are statistics that show that a boy growing up without a father in increasingly at risk to be involved in illegal activity and spend time in jail. Children are looking at our lives in the church to know how the Christian life is lived. Teens especially want to know if we are talking the talk but not walking the walk. I hope you will pray about who the Lord would like for your Sunday School class to befriend or some individual you can be a friend to in your neighborhood.
Vacation Bible School 2006
We have had a great summer of Vacation Bible School! A special thanks to Calvary Baptist, Valley Center for helping staff a VBS for South Broadway Baptist and to Metropolitan for staffing the Sedgwick Baptist VBS. It is great when we can minister both in our association as well in other communities.
I was so pleased with each of the Vacation Bible Schools I was able to attend. My teaching in two different schools plus being out of town some meant I missed being able to visit every one.
It was good to see that decorations were shared again this summer! I recognized some in the various schools. That is a blessing for all of us.
I hope as you are planning your calendar for next summer that each of our churches will plan a time for Vacation Bible School. It is a great time to increase the Bible learning of all of our children. The outreach to discover prospects is one all of us have an opportunity to plan and see how the Lord will bless.
I'm looking forward to knowing how many prospects were not only discovered but also followed up to become active in a church.
