Sunday School: Jean Edwards

We are entering that special time of the year when people give thanks and everyone is thinking about giving gifts. Inviting people to Sunday School gives people an opportunity to be involved with people who are thanks-living everyday. Some people could enjoy a Christmas party as their first time of being in a church group. A number of our churches have special music programs. Even if your church doesn't have one, you could invite people to attend one with you and go somewhere for fellowship afterward.
The greatest gift we could give to someone who doesn't know our Lord is an introduction to Him. We need to keep our focus on why Jesus came and reach out to the lost during this time. Your Sunday School class could find a family in need to provide food or a meal plus a small gift for each family member. Their question of why you are doing this gives an opportunity to share who Christ is in your life. What an opportunity for your class to reach out and share the true meaning of Christmas and carry that relationship into the new year.
An Achievable Goal: Every Group Having VBS
It has been my vision for every church and mission to have Vacation Bible School. Our new state partnership with the Arkansas state convention can help us achieve that goal. I need each of you to look at your calendar NOW to determine when you would like to schedule your VBS. Then I need you to determine how many people you will need to join your members to have VBS. The Aarkansas convention needs to know dates and your needs so they can let the need be known. WE are proposing that you have a three week focus. The first week would be prayer walking and flyer distribution. VBS would be the next week. The third week would be follow up. Our greatest downfall in not getting back to the prospective homes the week after VBS to enlist them in Sunday School. VBS locates the greatest number of propects for our congregations of any other ministry. The Arkansas Partnership gives us the potential of having the additional people needed to help you reach your ministry field. Please call me at 683-3042 with your date or with questions you may have. Let's have everyone reaching their ministry field with VBS the summer of 2005.
