Fall Sunday School

Tuesday, September 27, 2005

Our Flight School training has us better prepared for our calling to share Christ with those around us. One of the things we need to look at is our plan for the coming months. October gives us an opportunity to reach into our community with a safe, fun activity at church around October 31. Trick or treating in the neighborhood is not the safe activity it once was.

Having games and treats at church can reach new families as well as those on our Sunday School roles. Those families that came to Vacation Bible School but haven't become active in Sunday School will see one more time when the church is providing a good experience for the children. One of our Sunday School responsibilities is to minister. Planning special outreach activities is both a ministry and an evangelism tool.

Vacation Bible School 2005

We had an excellent summer of Vacation Bible School. It was good to see the decorations from one school passed to another. Up to five different churches benefited from one set of decorations. I was also pleased that several local churches helped another church in the association be able to have VBS by providing leadership help.

Several churches that hadn't been having VBS had Vacation Bible School this year because of our partnership with Arkansas. Some of those churches are planning to come back next summer to work with the church they served with this summer. We are working on matches for next year. Please call me at 683-3042 to talk about how a mission team can help you. We had some teams that did Prayer Walking and handing out flyers the week before VBS. Some teams helped teach VBS. Other teams helped with follow up the week following VBS. We have the opportunity for every group to have a VBS. John Barnett used teams to continue to build toward a new church start in Goddard. We need to know if you would like a mission team next summer.

Churches are making their calendars for the year right now. I have talked with several that said they would have their decisions made by the first of the year. Look at your calendars and let me know dates that would be good for your Vacation Bible School 2006. We minister to many children, helping them to grow in their Bible knowledge as well as discovering unchurched families. Let's have summer 2006 be our best VBS summer.
