First Baptist Church, Mulvane, Welcomes New Pastor

Cody Busby, 29, has accepted a call from the First Baptist Church in Mulvane to become their next full-time pastor. He will assume the leadership of the church on February 1st.

He will follow the former Pastor, Tim Boyd, who was pastor of First Baptist for nineteen and a half years before taking a position with the Kansas/Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists in Topeka. Boyd is the Director of the Family Ministry section and serves as Editor of the Baptist Message.

Busby is currently Minister of Youth and Recreation at Park Place Baptist Church, Brandon, Mississippi, which is a suburb of Jackson.

Kent Smith was the Chairman of the Pastor Search Committee that presented Busby to the Church. Other committee members include Barbara Crawford, Neal Reusser, Doug Morley, Chuck Warren, Debbie White, and Ann Hathaway.

Busby earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Oklahoma Baptist University in 1998 with a major of Applied Ministry. His emphasis was Youth Ministry and Family Psychology. He then spent two years working in the Admissions Office of OBU. Since 2000, Busby has been at Park Place Baptist Church.

He will complete a Masters of Divinity Degree in May of 2006 from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

He is married to Melissa (Meacham), and they have two daughters, Emma and Avery.

First Baptist Church will hold a series of welcoming events in February when their new pastor arrives.
