Homeless People Are People, Too!

Life without an address can be difficult. Without a place to call home you can be arrested for loitering. You can go to the public library to get out of the weather but don't fall asleep there! You have no place to bathe and if you are lucky enough to have more than one set of clothes, no place to do laundry.

You don't have access to a reliable phone. More importantly if you are one of the fortunate ones who receives Kansas State aid, you must have an address to send the check to.

If you choose to access a shelter, you are bound by the rules and regulations that are set up by each location. Your choices are limited and the ability to have choices and control over you life is the hardest thing to give up. Sometimes you just give up and choose independence and stay outside.

The temperatures are getting warmer but the Kansas wind still blows. We are always in need of sleeping bags, blankets and backpacks to distribute to those in need. Please contact Deborah Long at 316-204-9517 if you can help.
