The old Home Mission Board produced a brochure that asked the question, "What does an Associational Director of Missions do?" It listed the values of a Director of Missions first and then his role and finally his responsibilities and activities. This article will list only one value at this time and follow up with the others each newsletter.

"The Director of Missions is the key to an association reaching its potential just as a pastor is the key to a church reaching its potential and a Sunday school teacher is the key to a class reaching its potential...the Director is the key to an association reaching its potential." (Home Mission Board)

The Minister's Conference heard a fresh presentation from the organization that provides dialogue on university campuses pertaining to abortion. David Lee created the Justice for All movement to present a gracious, Godly conversation with college students about the killing of babies. He uses 20-foot high posters and trains high school and college students to witness on campuses. He uses adults from churches also to help in the effort. He usually does not go to universities as small as WSU but since he is headquartered in Wichita he responded to five students who organized Shockers for Life on our Wichita campus. Here is an excerpt from his brochure.

Opposition to abortion is not tolerated in academia. Undaunted, Justice for All brings information and dialogue about abortion to the epicenters of abortion rights-college campuses, which also serve as launch pads for future world leaders

  • JFA Exhibits presently impact over 200,000 collage students each year.
  • JFA Exhibits have traveled to 50 universities over the past 6 years in California, Texas, Florida, Ohio, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Minnesota, Colorado, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Kansas.
  • JFA partners each year with Scott Klusendorf of Life Training Institutes (prolifetraining.com), and Steve Wagner of Stand to Reason (str.org) to give more than 500 student volunteers America's best short course in bio-ethics and Christian apologetics.
  • JFA's partnership with Focus on the Family's Pregnancy Resource Ministries and local pregnancy resource centers ensures that compassionate assistance during and after an Exhibit is merely a step or phone call away.

Where were you two years ago? If you had come two years ago, I would never have had my abortion!" - A Lamar University student. She was referred to a local pregnancy resource center that had set up a table across from the JFA Exhibit. She signed up for an abortion-recovery program offered by the center.

Students are typically shocked to see the photos in the Exhibit showing victims of abortion. Injustice is hardly ever visually appealing. Yet, some injustices have to be seen if they are to be believed. Sadly, many complain about seeing the pictures of abortion more than they protest the violence of abortion itself.

Granted, Justice for All is profoundly countercultural. But if we - the most affluent society in history - are to give leadership to a world bent on selfishly sacrificing millions more of its youngest members, we must show the injustice of abortion in order to change hearts and minds."

It would be great if our students and churches could be involved in his training and campaign here in Wichita. His ministry is one that is gentle, sane and God-honoring.
