Why Hand Out Tracts?
Evangelism: Loren Phippen

A couple of years ago I picked up a book by Mark Ward Sr. called The Word Works. This book contains 151 testimonies of people giving their life to Christ through tracts. A lot of these conversions came through tracts that were passed on two or three times or more. One of the stories in that book that touched by heart was a story about a young drug dealer in NYC. He had been in trouble with drugs and the law for several years and had attempted suicide several times. One night while he was making a drug order from a phone booth, he saw a gospel tract on the floor. For some reason, he picked it up and put it in his pocket. The next morning, after waking up with a hang over, he read the tract several times and prayed to receive Jesus as his personal Savior. He immediately found a church that was open and began to get discipled. Today he is working the streets of NYC sharing the Gospel and helping people to get out of the drug life style. Praise God!! I have personally had several people on the street stop me and tell me that they read the tract we gave them and prayed to receive Christ and were in a church being discipled. If we carry tracts with us at all times, God will give us the opportunities to use them. I always give tracts at a check out counter and always leave tracts with my tip at restaurants. We just don't know how God will use a tract that we leave or give to someone. But He is clear in His Word that His Word will not come back void. We have a very good selection of tracts here at the Associational office. Most of the commercial tracts sell for 10 cents each. We have a tract called "There is Hope" which can be personalized for your church by using your stamp and it is 2 cents each when bought 1,000 at a time. For a small investment of $20 you can have enough tracts for everyone who would like to use them. It comes in English and Spanish. Please pray how God would want to use you to share the Gospel with tracts.
