Spring Break Retreat
Baptist Campus Ministries: Brad Simmons
Tuesday, May 1, 2007
During Spring Break, The Mission took a trip to Webster Conference Center in Salina, KS. Thanks to the generosity of Country Acres Baptist Church, 50 students were able to go on the retreat at a minimal cost to them. Well over half of the students who attended were not yet believers and were new to Wichita State. The retreat was a wonderful opportunity for relationships to be built and for the Word of God to be shared.
During the two day retreat, five sessions were held covering: God, The Trinity, The Bible, Creation-Fall-Redemption and Discipleship. When it wasn't raining, the students had time to play basketball, soccer, and any number of other things. At night, we had a campfire where I taught the students how to make s'mores and then each group from each country sang a song representative of their country. About 12 countries were represented.
Many students left the retreat with many questions about Christianity and how to have a personal relationship with God and many were exposed to those truths for the first time. Two young ladies, one from Nepal and the other from Malaysia, who went on that retreat have since given their lives to Christ. I thank God for the opportunity to work with the students and to see God at work in their lives.
