Baptist Campus Ministries: Brad Simmons
Wednesday, December 1, 2004
Baptist Campus Ministries is off to a great start this school year. After spending the summer meeting with our leadership team on a weekly basis, I am more excited than ever about what God has in store for His ministry at Wichita State. We are committed to building relationships with students so that they can know what it is to be loved as God loves us.
We continue to gather as a group on Thursday nights for a time of worship and fellowship. Several new students have joined us this semester and they are already forming great relationships with those who have been around for a while. Two students went to the Kansas/Nebraska Fall retreat and were challenged by the messages on the mysteries of God.
Next semester we are planning a trip to "passion05" in Nashville, Tennessee as well s a spring break mission trip. Last spring break we had the opportunity to work with "Kids Club," a ministry in the Cabrini-Greene housing project of Chicago. We had the chance to go into the public schools of Chicago and tutor children in math as well as help with Kids Club's after-school program.
Over the last semester, I have had the opportunity to work with a group of International students whose hearts' desire is to start an international student fellowship at Wichita State. They have already made contact with over 50 other international students the an outreach focused "Mooncake Festival." The students have begun meeting regularly on Saturdays at the main residence hall at Wichita State for a time of worship, teaching and fellowship.
Thank you for your continued prayer and support of Baptist Campus Ministries.
